Fresco Workshop

The Florentine and the Accademia d’Arte San Giovanni Firenze gave a one day ‘buon fresco’ workshop and I was lucky enough to get the last spot in the class. Our instructors, Fabrizio Lucchesi and Luca Viviani, guided us through the process. Everyone transferred a small section of the ‘The Distribution of Alms and the Death of Ananias” by Masaccio from the Brancacci Chapel using a red ochre pounce. A few years ago, I had used this same technique to transfer the ‘cartoon’ or sketch on tracing paper to canvas in a workshop at the Angel Academy. After we finished our frescoes, we had an excellent, in depth tour of the Brancacci Chapel by Alexandra Lawrence of The Florentine, followed by a delicious Tuscan lunch at trattoria I’Brindellone. The day flew by and I met some great people as well!!!
