Art All Night! Notte Bianca 2014

Is an artistic event in Florence that encompasses the city squares, theaters, churches, civic organizations and museums where the night comes alive and stays awake until the wee hours of the morning (during the week and just before a holiday). Musicians, light projections and installations can be found in many of the major squares all with the quest to “inspire a sense of belonging” in Florence. I loved the floating balls of light on the Arno and the laser and image projections on the most iconic buildings in Piazza Signorina! Here is the description from the Notte Bianca site:

 

“This is the theme of the fifth edition of the Notte Bianca in Florence, which aims to develop a model of an event wrap-around, high-value: we will experience a city without borders, reinterpreting the vision Architects of the avant-garde group of radicals active in Florence in the late ’60s that marked a significant page of the culture of the twentieth century. ‘s rich program of events curated by Artistic Director of Teatro Cantiere Florida , directed by Gianluca Balestra, will involve squares, museums and institutions of the city in a concentric vision that starting from the suburbs wants to accompany the visitor to the most spectacular events of the historic center. The goal is to stimulate the feeling of belonging to the 100,000 people that enliven the night in Florence. GOES ON THE CITY This is the theme of the fifth edition of the Notte Bianca of Florence, That at AIMS Developing the model of a fascinating and high-value event. We will experience a limitless city, reinterpreting the avant-garde vision of the group of radical architects active in Florence at the end of the sixties, That marked a significant page of cultures in the twentieth century. The rich program of events, by the artistic direction of the Teatro Cantiere Florida , directed by Gianluca Balestra, will involve the squares, the museums and the city institutions, with a movement starting from the periphery and leading the people towards the most spectacular events in the historical center. The goal is to inspire a feeling of Belonging for the 100,000 people who will enliven the Florentine night.”
