Istanbul: Last Day, Art Factory and Sylvére Lotringer

Sylvére Lotringer, who is the editor of SEMIOTEXT(E) and a twentieth-century French literature and philosophy professor at Columbia, spent the past two days with us and today’s follow up lecture occurred at the Art Factory, a family owned art storage and exhibition facility. Our hosts at the Art Factory were rather spectacular and our tour of their facility included information on the Turkish art market by curators from other galleries. Wine was served at 11 a.m. for our reception but many of us had to stop the free flowing libations. Wine coupled with deliriously tired Ph. D students just prior to any lecture that requires listening skills while seated would surely cause some eyelids to droop.

We had a chunk of free time in the afternoon and now we will be off for our closing dinner. Several of my classmates and I will be catching a 3:30 a.m. shuttle to take a 6 a.m. flight back to the USA. This may be last blog post for awhile since I plan on sleeping for a month after reuniting with my family…..
