Paris and THE Jacqueline Rose

Jacqueline Rose gave us an amazing lecture on Charlotte Salomon, a German-Jewish painter who was killed at Auschwitz. Charlotte Saloman’s life is one chapter in her upcoming book entitled “Women In Dark Times” and includes other chapters on Rosa Luxemburg and Marilyn Monroe. Everyone at IDSVA was in awe of Jacqueline not only because of the information she presented to us but also because of her style of presentation. It was as if you were sitting right next to her and having a casual conversation over coffee with her tone of voice and her graceful poise in front of our group was surely a model to inspire and aspire towards as we all find our personal presentation style. Last semester, we read Rose’s “Sexuality in the Field of Vision” as part of our Subject & Object of Art class. We had a great Q&A session and afterwards, we all had dinner with Jacqueline at Bistrot Papillion. It was an amazing day!!!!

For the foodies: delicious escargot, steak tartare traditional French style, chocolate mini cake with hot chocolate sauce and hazelnut ice cream
